Spring 2022 Lecture Series

A Lively Little Battle – by Mr. Chuck Veit

The President of the Military Historical Society of Massachusetts requests the pleasure of your attendance at the first of the 2022 Society events.

Distinguished Speaker Mr. Chuck Veit Historian and Author will present a discussion of his book:
A Lively Little Battle: New Perspectives On the Battle of Fort Butler.
Mr. Veit’s book presents “new research into a little known Civil War engagement at Donaldsonville, Louisiana. This is the Battle of Fort Butler, which saw a ragtag collection of 200 soldiers (mostly invalids) unaccountably repel the assault of a 1700-man Confederate force in the early morning hours of 28 June 1863.

Schedule for the Afternoon
1130–1200 -Assemble at the Colonial Inn’s Heritage Room for luncheon seating
1215 – Luncheon served (Menu attached – Please include meal selection with RSVP
1300 – Distinguished speaker Mr. Chuck Veit – Dessert Course and coffee & tea served
